CLingS follow-up project recommended for funding!!!

The research project for 2026-2028 entitled „Cross-lingual information retrieval for scientific datasets in less-resourced languages“, to be led by the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris, France is recommended for funding. Project „CLingS“ introduces several scientific and technological advances beyond the current state of the art, in particular domain-specific multilingual retrieval for less-resourced languages like Slovak. Unlike generic multilingual search systems, „CLingS“ focuses on scientific language, integrating domain-specific embeddings, terminological alignment, and contextualized semantic mapping.

Eugenio Echagüe, International Scientific Project Officer, Call Secretariat for CHIST-ERA, ICT Department wrote us:

We thank you for the submission of the research proposal CLingS in the framework of the Call 2025 of the CHIST-ERA ERA-NET for the topic „Science in your Own language“ (SOL).

We are pleased to inform you that your proposal has been recommended for funding, upon decision of the Call Steering Committee.

For your information, 28 eligible proposals have been submitted. Out of them, 19 proposals were above the quality cut-off and, among these, 8 were selected by the Call Steering Committee taking into account the available budgets, and 2 proposals are in the complementary list. The list of selected projects is published on the CHIST-ERA web site (www.chistera.eu).

The decision made was based on the scientific evaluation of the proposals by an international evaluation panel in accordance with the criteria and the procedure presented in the Call Announcement. The panel was chaired by Professor Giuseppe Manco and co-chaired by Professor Barbara Konat.
